If you are happy with the layout of your kitchen, but your cabinets are looking tired and outdated- or maybe the color and style just doesn’t fit your personality- then kitchen cabinet refacing can be a great alternative to replacing your old and outdated kitchen cabinets and can give you the kitchen of your dreams. It is important to note that kitchen cabinet refacing deals with the outside of the cabinet face and not the inside of the cabinet.

Whether you decide to reface or replace your cabinets as part of a kitchen remodel, it is one of the best things you can do to increase the value of your home as well as get the most return on investment. Shepherd’s Construction can come out and give you an honest evaluation and free estimate on your existing cabinets to see if refacing is the best option for you.

Sometimes kitchen cabinet refacing is not cost productive and you would be better served by replacing with new cabinets. Some of the benefits of refacing are that most kitchens can be done within 3 to 7 days, while being between 35 to 50 percent less expensive than purchasing and installing new cabinets. With refacing, your kitchen cabinets can be made to look modern, traditional, or rustic. The choices are customizable to your preference.

The cabinet refacing process consists of selecting a new door style and a post grade laminate or a real wood veneer for your face frames and side panels. Real wood veneer comes in over 20 different wood species, with the most popular choices being Alder, Oak, Cherry, Maple, and Birch. Once selections have been made, we take the selected door style and wood species, and in our shop, apply a high quality stain and finish to your veneer, end panels, doors, drawer faces, and crown molding.

In the home, we start with removing the existing cabinet doors, drawer fronts, cabinet trims, moldings, and prep your cabinets for applying refacing material. The veneer is applied to all the fronts of the face frames and end panels using high adhesion glue, while the new doors, drawer fronts, crown and trim molding are all installed. Now you have a beautiful, new kitchen in a shorter amount of time and have paid a smaller amount of money, while gaining more equity in your home for resale.
